LA PREP !

Wow, well where do I start, over the past 8 weeks I have been putting myself through blood, sweat and tears trying to prep my body ready for my trip to LA this weekend. I decided I wanted to make a lifestyle change and really give my diet and fitness 100% effort. So let’s go back 9 weeks when I looked at myself in the mirror and decided it’s time to make a big change. Gym has always been a big part of my life, however I’m sure you would agree we all want that perfect body but also can’t keep our hands off delicious treats. With LA just around the corner I decided to sign up to an 8 week intense training program with my PT Jools Newson, and put my body through some tough but amazing changes. The biggest lesson I have learnt over this experience is when we think the tank is empty, there is definitely another 50% left in you and that is the part that counts the most.

TRAINING

When training, here is some starting advice – leave your phone in your locker! If you use your phone to play music then put it on airplane mode. I used to spend at least 2 hours in the gym texting friends, looking for my favourite song or to be honest, any excuse to have a longer break between each exercise. This can massively effect you’re training as your body needs to be kept on its toes rather than giving it too much rest between each set and switching off then picking up weights and turning it back on. I’ve learnt the body is a very clever thing and the slightest wrong can affect your results. There are many mornings I would wake up with the struggle in trying to find the energy to get to the gym and I definitely know we all have this issue at times. Spending too much time in the gym will reduce your motivation for fitting in those important sessions. You should be spending an hour in the gym (tops!) which shouldn’t be too hard to fit into anyone’s schedule. When it comes to what and how you train in the gym, this is something I can’t help you with as everybody is different, and I’m unfortunately not a personal trainer myself. DIET

What I’ve learnt over the past 8 weeks with dieting is that this is actually the most important part in making a big change in your body. The changes I have put myself through have been tough but seeing the results just makes it all worthwhile in the end. There is no set diet everyone can stick to that works, this is something that needs to be played around with to find out what suits you and your body best. I have had days where I’m nearly in tears, craving sweets and chocolate, running around the house driving myself crazy, but this is natural. You just need to get some will-power and think about the reasons that you are doing this in the first place, and fix your mind on that. Mine was to achieve a body I am confident to show-off while in LA, and that thought helped me through every step of this journey. Again, if you have any questions with regards to diet plans make sure to drop Jools an email as he will create and personalise a plan just for you, to help you get that body you was looking to achieve.

NO CHANGE STRUGGLE

My last part I want to talk to you about is what I call the ’No Change Struggle’. This is something that happens to the most of us halfway through a training program. When you start making a dramatic change to your diet and training you will instantly start to see results however after 3-5 weeks these changes will look like they are slowing down and you don’t notice as much change. Now at this point on many occasions, I have given up as it doesn’t seem worth it anymore, putting yourself through all of this to then see no further results, however DO NOT GIVE UP. The changes will continue and your progression is still on going, even if it doesn’t seem that way. Once you get past this part it’s the best feeling ever, as then you start to see huge results rather than the smaller ones at the start. Everything you have worked
